Our Union is the I.A.T.S.E., the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada, commonly abbreviated IATSE or IA. Local 22 represents stagehands, audio-visual technicians, and projectionists in the greater Washington, DC area, including the Maryland and Virginia suburbs of Washington.
To apply to work in Local 22’s referral system:
First read our Referral Rules.
Applications will be reviewed monthly. New applicants are invited into our system as the need for workers rises. You will be asked to attend our Intro to Stagecraft class to learn how our system works and to complete paperwork.
If you do not hear from us within 90 days from the date of your application, please apply again.
Union membership is not initially required to work in Local 22’s referral system.

IATSE Local 22 holds an open house and accepts applications for our Referral System on the first Thursday of each Month between 10 am and 12pm.
